But you can control the shrink according to the manufacturer's directions or don't change temps - that is the key. If you use hot water, don't follow with cold. The dryer will shrink it too. Hope I helped a little.Pat Lucashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07136000184103653364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26850144.post-72147630648213436072019-01-13T06:45:00.461-08:002019-01-13T06:45:00.461-08:00Thank YOU! I soaked my huge applique panel in cold water to remove the blue placement marks from the water soluble marker I used, and was devastated to find that red berries had run into the cream background. I found your post, and tried the blue Dawn - success!!! Great for softness. But the first washing was awful, and the 2nd not much better. I found a similar blog with these directions. And it worked great; I also used the blue Dawn. I did have to soak it a 2nd time in a new batch of HOT water as the color was literally black, and not able to be seen through at all. And it soaked for 5 to 6 hours. Again, great results.Debbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13937671527894068679noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26850144.post-51279278586038001352016-07-05T07:46:24.737-07:002016-07-05T07:46:24.737-07:00What I've noticed over the years is that the i...What I've noticed over the years is that the inconsistency in the ph from the wells of the water systems where I have lived can lead to bleeding.

One place I lived, the water could come out of the tap at 8.5 some days and closer to 5.5 or 6 others. With the change of ph, my hand-dyed fabrics would bleed.Dora, the Quilterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16043451474748191494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26850144.post-29178952145073815902016-07-05T05:59:52.720-07:002016-07-05T05:59:52.720-07:00Very interesting post and one that I will use for ...Very interesting post and one that I will use for reference in the future.
