Years later and 15 surgeries on the same knee the quilt is finished and I'm quilting it. I want to give it to my neighbor who took me to pt but more importantly saved my life when she took me to pt because hubby was on a business trip she noticed all the bruising and her nursing career kicked in. My blood levels for Coumadin was off the charts, immediately admitted, with not being allowed out of bed without a nurse. This lady I truly believed saved my life that day. I finished the quilt but i can't find the stories behind each block. I didn't know this but her hubby was a revotioary war person who took in part in reenactments. I wanted to add the stories for each block in my label of memory to Lionel but I can't find the info or get down the basement steps to search. There is so much to enjoy. I am so thankful for your generosity in sharing your creativity. This post is like a virtual quilt show, so uplifting at a time when so many of us are missing our guilds. I loved your interview as well. Hope you will be able to enter shows again soon.Vickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04040897547690004664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26850144.post-27019611603859403442021-02-14T14:49:41.635-08:002021-02-14T14:49:41.635-08:00I'm confused. At one point your directions say, "... four separate pieces...", and in another place I understand it to say that you are working one piece of binding around a corner (where it says "pull out" a short amount). Please clarify. Also ... still confused. Sorry, I've made a few quilts, but all pretty straight forward. The current one I'm trying to finish is more ... eclectic (a crazy patch quilt, made of daughter's jeans and T-shirts). I'm wanting a piped edge to the entire quilt ... like you would see on a pillow. That's not what this is, I think. ??? Would I just attach the binding as usual to one right side and then sew entire quilt together right sides together and then turn right side out? You remind me that I can do this too, one stitch at a time, start with SID, don't rush. I also made two Project Linus drops this year, totally 30 quilts. Doing something to help others really helped me this year. I do have one question. Why do you use monofilament thread for so much of the in the ditch stitching? It's so inspirational! I don't visit Facebook anymore except to see what's up in a couple of groups. I absolutely love your Mom's quilt. I hope she can get her vaccine soon. I really feelmfor all of the professional quilters. I don't think people appreciate the effort and time that you put into building your businesses and how much work it is to prepare for your classes and what a loss it is to lose thses shows. So many of them will not be back and I don't think people have realized that yet. I hope we do get back on track 2021 and that we can have quilt shows again soon. Take care and Happy New Year. All the quilts are just gorgeous and the quilting superb as always. But moreover, the insight from a longarm quilter and competition quilter on how COVID-19 has affected you. So much catastrophic, economic ripple effect with the pandemic that we don't always know about or realize.I'm an RN, and very fortunate to still have my job, when I have other nursing colleagues who were laid off (yes, hard to imagine, but if you work in outpatient surgery, or other elective medical areas, your patients are non-existent right now). Hoping we can continue rolling out the vaccine rapidly - we all need to get back to some semblance of normal, soon, both economically and mentally. I thank you for this little bright spot this morning, it was a joy to read through your post and look at all those beautiful, inspirational quilts. Congrats on your outstanding BOS win at the Virtual Quilt Show with your 'Hungarian Rhapsody', well deserved, and I wish your new show quilt lots of success in whatever shows you can enter it in, in 2021!Patty Slineyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07548477158287652772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26850144.post-64088716242610270182020-12-26T06:36:56.295-08:002020-12-26T06:36:56.295-08:00Great quilt show!Great quilt show!marylandonquiltshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08122389879056757598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26850144.post-77298216359812639972020-12-26T06:36:37.583-08:002020-12-26T06:36:37.583-08:00Great quilt show!Great quilt show!marylandonquiltshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08122389879056757598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26850144.post-85901373647056274072020-12-26T05:09:54.572-08:002020-12-26T05:09:54.572-08:00The quilts are amazing and the quilting is MORE am...The quilts are amazing and the quilting is MORE amazing.
