My block arrived yesterday from Carol, along with the deep turquoise fabric shown at the top left. The turquoise is nice and has a marbled effect with little speckes of gold. I immediately went through the pieces of fabric I'd bought on Sunday, locating those that coordinated best. I find that her block style is hard for me to design an effective border for. I want it to look good, but don't want to make a ton of those corner-stones on point in order for it to look cohesive.
I have decided to stick with the design I sketched and showed last post. The colors are a tad different though - less blue & more green. Here are 2 sides of the block's border. Two more to go this weekend...(after I get through a busy school week).
Thoughts??! ...and you won't hurt my feelings :-) Is it too bizzarre? too retro & funky? Would you croak if this quilt came in your mail??

I love it! Of course, I love all things a bit "out of the box". Honestly, I think anyone would appreciate it with the border you added. A bit of the unpredictable!
I think it's very creative and cool -- and it's making me re-consider my plan for the block I received (which is very geometric as well)
I love the design and your fabric choices - I particularly like the little touch of red in there. I'd be very happy with that on my centre block. It will really stretch the next person!
I think it's great, the curves look excellent against it.. it really makes it stand out
Very creative on your border it looks great. I can't imagine anyone not liking this.
Well, I'm kind of a funky retro person myself, so it's bound to appeal, but trying to look at it objectively, I think it works well. And if the next recipient feels it's a little too wild, they can always calm it down with a more sedate next border...
Very fun twist to the very Santa Fe center block. The rusty-orange red color is a great accent to the turquoise. All nice desert tones! :-)
